"My love from the stars" Cheon Song Yi inspired perm

Everyone who watched the drama "My love from the star (별에서 온 그대) which was big hit across Asia, would be captivated by Cheon Song Yi (Jeon Ji Hyun)'s stylish look. The outfits and accessories she wore in drama was sold out immediately after the show is aired. However, the highlight of her gorgeous style in the drama is not her clothes, but her elegant hair style! Senior Hair Stylist from Korea, Helly Lee recreates Cheon Song Yi's hairstyle with a some modification of her own.







Cheon Song Yi's hair style

At first glance, Cheon Song Yi's hair looks like its just one length. But from front view, the hair ends with C curls. The key point of this style is getting layered cut and C perm. We start of by parting the hair right above the inner edge of her eyes, layering the hair to create the soft look allowing it to fall nicely on her face. Followed by a C-curl setting perm to get big curls on the end of hair. For those with thin hair, adding volume to the roots will helps in achieving the voluminous look.

Process

Since she had a healthy straight hair, we decided to maintain the hair length and cut hair ends to make a high layer. Before we work on the perm, we did a color touch up to hide away new grown hair color. After colouring her hair, we used Deesse's 4 steps treatment by Milbon which help in repairing hair after chemicals. We used the steam machine to enhance the effect of the treatment. Next, we step into the most important part of creating Cheon Song Yi's hairstyle, creating the curls. To create the natural look, we applied a perm lotion from the middle body of her hair and curled it with big ceramic rods.



1) Trim her hair a little bit.





2) Apply a hair colour cream to entire hair







3) Apply treatment cream for repairing.

4) Curl hair with ceramic rods

We used Korean setting perm for creating natural curls. This setting perm gives volume and weight with minimum damage. Unlike the traditional type of perm, Korea setting perm reduces frizz by distributing heat evenly throughout the hair shaft. It is also easy to manage and the end result is shiny and natural. Ceramic rods are also capable of breaking down water into tiny droplets that are absorbed by the hair shaft, thereby locking the natural moisture of the hair during styling.

Result




The curls looks very natural and don't look so tight. With Lovely Cheon Song-yi’s hair colour, cappuccino brown, she looks more mature and feminine. This style is great with bang and without it. The good news is, this hairstyle requires minimal maintenance. All you need is to curl your hair with your fingers and apply hair essence to manage the condition of hair.
