Cosmetics And Skincare Ingredients To Avoid

Cosmetics and skincare that makes you look good are not enough for the women today. It has to feel good too – and that often means eco products which are rid of preservatives, parabens, and unwanted chemicals. While the extent of its effects remain debatable, here are four large groups of ingredients that the more-conscious will want to avoid in their cosmetics:

PRESERVATIVES

Parabens are one of the most powerful preservatives and they accumulate on your fat cells when used continuously. Although it is hard to say that it is completely bad for you, many cosmetics brands have started using less parabens and instead substitute them with natural preservatives such as essential oil, antibiotics from plants. Some common parabens include Methylparaben, Ethylparaben and Phenoxyethanol.

SYNTHESIZED ACTIVATORS
Synthesized Activators are needed to mix 2 essential elements for cosmetics – water and oil.   They destroy your protective layer of skin and products which contain high amounts of them are not advisable for sensitive skin. Today, many companies use natural activators as a substitute. Examples of these activators include Sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, TEA-lauryl sulfate, PEG( Poly ethylene Glycol).

ARTIFICAL FRAGRANCE AND COLOR
A product may smell and look attractive, but don’t be fooled as too much artificial fragrance and color can harm your skin. For example, a product injected with a mix of fragrances are more likely to cause allergies. Common examples of artificial fragrance and color include Benzyl Alcohol, Linalool, Geraniol and Cinnamal.
