Forget Contouring; Try Strobbing

안녕하세요, readers!

Everyone knows the wonders of facial contouring. It can really change the way your face looks.

Contouring can make your face look slimmer, eyes bigger & deeper, nose narrower… Basically the possibilities are limitless.

A perfectly chiselled face is suddenly made achievable.

However here comes a new makeup method that makes contouring so yesterday. We know this as ‘strobbing’.

You might not find this word in the dictionary just yet… But we assure you, it’s legit. ;)

Unlike contouring which makes use of a bronzer and a highlighter…

Strobbing only requires the highlighter.

Contouring = Bronzer + Highlighter
Strobbing = Highlighter

This makeup method is totally raved because it captures light on the face that gives off a super radiant glow, making you look younger and healthier!

Unlike contouring, you won’t look like you’re trying too hard. It is the must-have method to use to achieve the ‘natural beauty’ look. Without the dark hues of a bronzer, your face will appear even more radiant.

By using the highlighter, you place some product on areas where you want to achieve volume and bring attention to!

You can use a myriad of highlighter products, but here are some favourites!

Product: YSL Touche Éclat

Product: ETUDE HOUSE Highlighter Nymph AURA Volumer

Product: Innisfree Mineral Highlighter
Here’s a standard guide to help you out. :)

Here’s the whole rationale behind highlighting those specific points in the guide -

01
Above & Below Eyebrow Arch: This is to make your eyebrows seem higher. This will help in giving proportion to your face.

Inner Eyes: Just between your eyes and your nose bridge; this area is super important in giving you a more ‘awake’ appearance by making your eyes look larger.

Outer Bottom of Eyes: Like a complement to the ‘Inner Eyes’, this step also helps in enlarging your eyes in giving you a rather innocent and lively look!

02
Nose Bridge: Well, this one is pretty well-known. It is great for giving the illusion of a higher, sharper and narrower nose! Your nose is the center of your face, so it has to look impeccable.

Cupid Bow: By highlighting this part, you will make your lips look like it’s pouting and more defined - very sexy.

Chin: This helps you elongate your face and give the illusion of a sharper face!

03
Cheekbones to Outer Eye: This final step is often missed out by many, but it actually creates a very subtle yet noticeable difference. It will make your cheekbones appear higher and give you an overall more chiselled-looking face.

So store away your bronzer and be extra loving to your highlighter!

Get ready to look stunningly fresh and radiant with strobbing!

Try this out and tell us how it works out for you in the comments below! :)

Tips For DIY Hair Color

With so many DIY hair color products available nowadays, anyone should have tried coloring their hair in their own convenience at home. And it probably was not very satisfactory and ended up with a color that was not intended. With reference to the video of a famous Korean Beauty Youtuber, Lamuqe, HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO DYE THEIR HAIR ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT FAILING!

Bleach your hair before using your coloring product for brighter color expression. Think of it as painting colors on a white paper instead of a black paper. Colors show better on brighter (bleached) hair!

Try not to wash your hair for one or two days before dyeing your hair. It might sound a little gross but it helps accumulate your scalp sebum that acts as natural hair protection that reduces damage to hair later.

Apply any serum or oil and brush your hair downwards before dyeing. Make sure there are no kinks and it is important to brush your hair downwards, not upwards or in round motions as it will damage your hair cuticle.

It is good to apply lots of hair essence or oil before on the night before dyeing the hair. Remember to put a towel on the pillow to prevent the pillow from absorbing the essence.

Blow dry your hair with cold air after applying hair essence.

Apply the color product last on the scalp. Hair near the scalp absorbs the color very fast!

Remove the dye that got on the face or the neck with facial cream. Apply some cream on the areas with the dye and remove it with cotton pad.

Make some hair mask with your hair serum and hair oil. After washing your hair with shampoo, apply the hair mask thoroughly.

Wear a wet towel on your head and blow dry with hot air for 5 minutes. This gives hair treatment effect as the nutrients are absorbed better at high temperature.

After washing off the hair mask, blow dry with cold air.

Completed!

Ever had the frustrating experience of clicking on a YouTube video thumbnail only to realise that you don’t understand a word of what is being said? 1. PONY MAKEUP

Branching off from having her videos uploaded on beauty and lifestyle channel InSite TV, Pony started her own beauty channel- Pony Makeup in February this year and has already garnered an impressive following of 271,000 subscribers. She has collaborated with Innisfree for several videos and is also the spokesperson for Etude House, where she got to visit Singapore last year for the opening of its flagship store.

Our favorite? HIJAB MAKEUP

In creating this look, Pony has proved herself to be a professional who possesses superb makeup expertise. We were thoroughly shocked and impressed at her accuracy in reflecting the actual makeup we see on women wearing a Hijab. So Young creates a wide variety of subtitled videos ranging from makeup tutorials to beauty hauls to “Get Ready with Me” videos and much more. Among them all, we always make sure to watch her product review videos because they often feature the latest products from many brands and in the case of makeup items such as lipsticks or blushers, she tries the product on herself so that you can see how it looks like when applied.

Our favorite? ROADSHOP TINT SWATCHES #2

In this video, and as with many of her uploads, she personally tries and swatches 11 different lip tints, even if it means cleansing her lips 11 times. She also briefly reviews the pros and cons of each product. This makes her videos extremely useful in helping subscribers who are oftentimes overwhelmed by the sheer variety of Korean cosmetics brands out there.
